Mined from Coober Pedy, cut and set in our workshop, finished in 925 sterling silver with a sterling silver bail to finish it off. This is a small pendant, for a delicate chain B2 on the brightness scale N9 1.7ct Coober Pedy opal Total weight: 1.88g Opal is a natural stone with a hardness of 5.5 - 6.5 on the mohs scale, making it a similar hardness to glass. Composed of hydrated silica, their significant water content is part of what makes them delicate stones. Opal is generally stable, and although it can be affected by heat from intense light which can cause fracture lines called crazing. we take every care to use only stones that are less susceptible to damage, any stone that has weakness is not used in our jewellery.
